Father son arrested along with stolen items by PHED staff and 10 AR

    IMPHAL, May 22: A father and son along with three others were arrested with stolen GI pipes and a jeep used for transporting the stolen items by a team of PHED and 10 Assam rifle personnel yesterday at around 3.30 from Kangchup Patbung Village under Gamnom saparmeina Police station. All the arrested persons were handed over to the police today

    The five who were arrested by the PHED employee and the 10 AR personal are identified as Haopu Kipgen (45) and his son Himcha Kipgen (16) ; Mangnu Tauthang (16), son of Hesei Tauthang; Ginpu Kipgen (18), son of Hethang Kipgen and Thathang Kipgen (24), son of Hechen Kipgen all from Kangchup Phaijall. Following the revelations of  Haopu Kipgen, the driver of the Jeep under registration number MN01X-2378 is reportedly owned by Hemthang Kipgen from his own locality

    According to one PHED employee all the five were arrested along with the stolen GI pipes 30mm worth around 1 lakhs and 30 thousand rupees.  The stolen items were to be used for carrying water from Kangchup up to the Kangchup water treatment plan and this not the first time the GI pipes were stolen from the area. He added that some months earlier, they had lodged a complaint to the concern Saparmeina Police about the stolen of GI pipes by unknown persons worth around 2 lakhs from the area he said. The arrested persons weere handed over to the sapermeina police today.
