IMPHAL, May 18: One NSCN-IM cadre was shot dead by suspected ZUF cadres today at around 2 pm along Thongjaorok River bank at Lusai Chiru Village some 8 kilometre away from Bishnupur Police station. The dead body has been pickes up by the police and deposited to the RIMS morgue for post mortem.
The dead body was found with a bullet mark on the back side of the head which passed through the front side. The police also recovered 2 empty cases of a 9 mm pistol and from the identity card found from the youth identified the deceased as one Paosingdai Gonmei (29) son of Nasalung Golmei of Ngamgailung Village, Senapati.
Meanwhile, villagers of the neighbouring villags who gathered at the spot said that the youth is not from the Ngamailung Village but is from the Khoupum Tuisangdai Village. The police have taken up a case regarding the incident.
Additionally, a press communiqué issued by information Secretary of the Zeliangrong United Front, A Dangmei said that Pousingdai Gonmei 29, Kapor of Zeilad Region of Duithanjang Khopum was awarded capital punishment at Ngariyan village, Churachanpur district. It said that the deceased was apprehended in 2011 for leading the NSCN-IM cadres in the first gun battle at Khoupum in 2010. After stern warning he was released for he was a brother of Zeliangrong and on humanitarian ground. The ZUF went on to said that he was also among the cadres involved in the ambush at Soubunglong (Leishok) village in 2011. It also alleged that the deceased was found collecting tax in the Zeliangrong region.
