IMPHAL, May 9: Arrested Moreh Commando Post, Officer in charge, Sub Inspector RK Binodjit Singh was today produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Thoubal this noon around 12:20pm regarding a case filed by the Kakching Police for his involvement i the seizure of a huge consignment of drugs from Pallel Check post on April 28.
SI RK Binodjit (34) son of RK Bijoy Singh of Yaiskul Police Lane who was arrested yesterday was produced before the court regarding a case registered under FIR no 62 (4) 2013 KCG PS u/s 21/29 ND&PS Act and 27 Arms Act.
Meanwhile, a reliable source has informed that during preliminary interrogation, the accused SI RK Binodjit Singh disclosed that two other individuals were involved in the transportation of the seized consignment of drugs. The two have been identified as Menshang of Moreh Ward 1 and Azad of Lilong, informed the source.
The SI also disclosed that drugs transported by the police commandos are handed over to Menshang while Azad is only a transporter, adding that he doesn’t know Menshang and knows only one Ali from Moreh, the source informed.
Meanwhile, it is also learnt that a Cdo team led by the SDPO Moreh has arrested an individual from Moreh Ward No 4 suspected to be involved in the case.
The arrested person identified as Lalhminsanga (30), son of Khankhuma was soon handed over to the Kakching police who handed him over to the Imphal Police Station through “Requisition”, informed sources. It is also learnt that he is one of the many linked to the drug consignment that was being transported by the Cdo personnel.
Meanwhile, during the court proceeding today, police prayed before the CJM Thoubal to award 9 days of police custody remand for accused RK Binodjit Singh as the police has many things to investigate against him, while the accused’s Counsel prayed for just four days of police custody remand.
After hearing both prayers, CJM/Thoubal A Nonteneshori Devi awarded seven days of police custody remand to accused RK Binodjit. The CJM has also directed the police to produce the accused on May 15 before a special court of the NDPS, informed the source.
