SENAPATI, May 11: “There is no tax free state or nation so far in this world”. This was stated by the State Dy.Chief Minister Gaikhangam during the inspection of the Integrated Taxation Check Post located between Taphou Kuki and Hengbung village today.
The Dy.CM was accompanied by Comm.&Industry, Sericulture and Vety. Minister K.Govindas, ADM Senapati D.Gangmei, SP Senapati Pushpaanjali and Addl.SP Kangpokpi Zakir.
Gaikhangam said, we have heard so many things about this Taxation Check Post, so the cabinet decided to inspect the spot and find out personally the problems so that something can be done.
The Dy.CM Shri Gaikhangam who also holds the post of Home further said that the Integrated Check Post here could generate atleast 500/600 crores annually if taxes are paid properly.
“Paying taxes means helping the government and when you help the government, you help yourself. If the government collapses, the citizen too is automatically collapsed. So everyone should by any mean pay taxes which they ought to pay,” he said.
The Dy.CM further appealed to all concerned to change the present mindset of ignoring tax payment. Gaikhangnam also gave a call to all citizens of Manipur to shun general strikes as they are nothing but only self punishment.
