IMPHAL, June 28: State Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangan has strongly condemned yesterday’s bomb blast at Uripok Tourambam which left two non-locals dead and five other persons including four locals injured.
The Dy CM called a press conference to this regard at his Old Secretariat office chamber today.
He has further appealed to the non-locals to remain calm and peaceful, while continuing that the act was a cowardice and mindless act carried out by miscreants without any consideration for humanity.
He further assured that the police department is full out to arrest the culprits at the earliest.
He continued that issue of paying compensation to the victims’ families will be taken up by the cabinet.
He said that the state has to care for the non-locals as they are also citizens of India and one should also consider that people from the state living outside could get into trouble if such acts continue.
The bomb which exploded yesterday could have been planned and fixed with a timer but it can’t be said as the investigation is going on, he said.
Meanwhile, local womenfolk of Uripok Tourangbam Leikai today staged a sit in protest at the Uripok Tourangbam Lairak Machin against yesterday’s bomb attack at a rented room killing two non-locals while injuring four other individuals including a local.
Speaking to the media persons, one of the woman protestors said that they condemn the act and demanded clarification from the perpetrators of the attack at the earliest.
Protestors also appealed against the bomb culture and not to repeat such incidents in the area in the future.
It may be mentioned that the incident of blast occurred yesterday night at around 7.50 pm in a rented room located at Uripok Tourangbam Leikai under Imphal Police station Imphal west killing two non-locals and injuring four others including a local who were rushed to the RIMS for treatment.
The IFP had reported four non-locals and a local were injured which stands corrected at three non-locals and a local injured.
