IMPHAL, June 29: For a nation to grow, good administrators are needed; without it no matter how good the government is, development will always be lesser, said Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai speaking at a prize distribution function of merit students of Khangabok private centre in the HSLC examination 2013 organized by the centre itself at Khangabok High School today.

The Minister further said that the tenth standard is the most important time in a student’s life, it is the time when one decide on his/her destiny. Now-a-days it is very competitive, not only in India but the whole world.

Keeping these things in mind, students should work harder to become a good administrator. A small state like Manipur has produced many IAS, IPS, IFS by competing in the all India examinations, the Minister said to the students.

There was a time in Manipur, when because of the Law and order situation it was quite worrying that the state might not be able to produce any good administrator but in opposite to that the state has been producing many administrators who are a matter of pride for the state, said the Minister encouraging the students.

Informing the policies/programmes taken up by the present government, the Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh to bring development in the education sector of the state, changes are happening in the education polices and as a result of which the government schools that no one wants to get admitted to a few years ago now has no empty seats. This is a grand success of the Education Minister as well as the council of Ministers, she added.

The Minister said many youths these days are using drugs and we need to do something to stop this timely or else we all will suffer the impact in the coming years. The state government is not taking the matter lightly and is taking up measures to make the state a drug free state; she said and appealed the public to support the cause of the government for a drug free society.

Parliamentary Secretary K Maghachandra who attended the function as guest of honour encouraged the students to become good businessmen or industrialist besides a doctor or an engineer.

MLA P Brojen, speaking at the function advised the students to focus on learning their lessons and not to indulge in other issues which are not related to them. He also emphasised the need for moral education.

The function was presided by MLA O Landhoni where merit students of Khangabok Private Centre from ten different schools were encouraged by presenting monetary awards.
