IMPHAL, June 5: The state government will acquire residential land around the Singda Dam area measuring around 56 acres despite various agitations launched by organisations of the nearby villages including New Bazar Board Committee, Singda Naharol Yaipha Thouni Kangchup adjoining Singda Dam.
The nearby villagers have been demanding against any acquisition of the residential areas in the area when the government took up the construction work of the dam.
The concerned department of the state government has officially issued a notification for land acquisition.
According to information received by IFP, S Sunderlal, Commissioner (Revenue) of the Government of Manipur has issued an official notification on May 28 regarding the matter.
The notification No. 4/8/LA/2013-com (Rev) issued by the Commissioner, with regard to the land acquisition by the government has said, “The Governor of Manipur is pleased to notify under section 4 (I) of the land acquisition Act, 1894 that the the area of land described in the schedule given below is likely to be needed for public purpose i.e. beautification/development of Singda Multipurpose project at village No. 56-Kadangpal in Imphal west district. Dag No. of the land which was declared by the Manipur government for acquisition is 66/268 while the classification of the lands is Ingkhol. The patta No. is 204 (old)/353 (New). Pattadars of the land measuring 56 acres are Secretary, Singda New Bazar Board Committee ( Regd. No. 26/1975) of Singda Bazar, Secretary, Singda Naharol Yaipha Thouni Kangchup, Kadangpal Part -1 and nine individuals.
In the notification issued by Commissioner (Rev), Sub-divisional officer (SDO), Sub-Deputy Collector (SDC) and their staff were instructed to take up necessary actions as per the plans being made by the government.
