House passes 30 separate demands for excess grants

IMPHAL, June 28: The House has passed 30 separate demands for excess grants for the last three financial years today.

The demands for excess grants passed by the House were moved by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh who also holds the Finance portfolio on the floor of the House.

Without holding the general discussion,the Speaker invited the opinion of the House and members of the House unanimously approved that the House pass the Demands.

The Demands for excess grants passed by the House are seven Demands for the year 2007-08 which are Demand No. 8 for public works department amounting to Rs 2,31,05,405; Demand No 16 for co-operation amounting to Rs 11,60,038; Demand No 18 for animal husbandry and veterinary including dairy farming amounting to Rs 72,24,094; Demand No 22 for public health engineering amounting to Rs 6,75,23,455; Demand No 23 for power amounting to Rs 20,36,34,430; Demand No 25 for youth affairs and sports amounting to Rs 48,92,294 and Demand No 41 for Arts and culture amounting to Rs 46,39,256.

Demands for excess grants for the year 2008-09 passed by the House are Demand No 5 for finance amounting to Rs 16,96,17,813; Demand No 11 for medical, health and family welfare services amounting to Rs 30,32,20,161; Demand No 12 for municipal administration, housing and urban development amounting to Rs 11,99,91,042; Demand No 22 for public health engineering amounting to Rs 23,22,21,215; Demand No 23 for power amounting to Rs 2,50,34,579; Demand No 25 for youth affairs and sports amounting to Rs 35,59,149; Demand No 27 for election amounting to Rs 5,10,845; Demand No 29 for sales tax, other taxes/duties on commodities and services amounting to Rs 9,06,545; Demand No 33 for Home guards amounting to Rs 33,943; Demand No 39 for sericulture amounting to 11,00,91,36; Demand No 45 for tourism amounting to Rs 55,49,152; Demand No 46 for science and technology and information technology amounting to Rs 2,20,72,216 and Demand No 47 for welfare of minorities and other backward classes amounting to Rs 40,49,000.

Demands for excess for the year 2009-10 passed by the House are Demand No. 5 for finance amounting to Rs 18,54,46,571; Demand No 11 for medical, health and family welfare services amounting to Rs 2,61,72,683; Demand No 12 for Municipal administration, housing and urban development amounting to Rs 36,00,000; Demand No 13 for labour and employment amounting to Rs 22,62,763; Demand No 19 for environment and forests amounting to Rs 1,68,88,806; Demand No 22 for public health engineering amounting to Rs 1,41,33,625; Demand No 25 for youth affairs and sports development amounting to Rs 3,75,506; Demand No 9 for sericulture amounting to Rs 2,11,204 and Demand No 48 for relief and disaster management amounting to Rs 72,95,988.

Opposition and ruling members of the House did not take part when the total amount of thirty demands for excess grants was passed by the House for three fiscal years.
