IMPHAL, June 15: The errors found in the evaluation of marks for the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur conducted Class X examination was due to the pressure upon the Board members to declare the exam results within a short period of time, said the state Education Minister.
The errors occurred in the result might be in the tabulation, he said.
The AMSU had recently in a press conference charged the Board of being negligent and irresponsible in evaluation of marks which had resulted in the error.
The Minister while speaking at the 41st Annual Prize distribution function 2013 organized by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur had said that the error found in this year’s exam will not be repeated again.
The prize distribution was held at the auditorium of the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal today.
The error will be investigated and actions will be taken if anyone is found to be negligent during the evaluation of exam papers resulting in the error, the Minister said.
Changing the topic, the Minister said, the pass percentage of the government schools is indicative of the fact that the government institutions are not lacking behind the private schools; which is a great success for the state education department, he added.
Okendra continued that the government is trying its best to uplift the conditions of the government schools.
Guardians and students alike have started to believe and trust the government schools which is shown by the fact that a huge number of students are trying for admission in the government schools of Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Ibotonshana Girls’ Higher Secondary, Sir Churachand Singh Higher Secondary and Johnstone Higher Secondary schools, he said.
He continued that the introduction of the bio-metric system for attendance of teachers in the schools will certainly boost the attendance of teachers.
The system will soon be introduced for the students, he said.
He further appealed the people to support the government schools and to forget the past when the government schools were in a bad condition.
Speaking at the function P Dhanakumar Singh, Chairman, Board of Secondary Education, Manipur appealed to the education Minister to introduce socio-cultural foundation course in the pre-primary level in the state.
The new teaching styles in the pre-primary level have mostly excluded the folk rhymes and folk stories of the state making the students socially disconnected with the society, he said.
Even under RTE, the socio cultural foundation course will be introduced in the country as compulsory, he continued.
The top ten rankers of the exam were awarded during the function. Awards for Elementary Manipuri, State Government Award on Science Popularization and other awards instituted by Trusts and individuals were also distributed during the function.
