ILP sit in protest continues unabated

IMPHAL, June 17: Sit in protests demanding implementation of the Inner Line Permit System in the state continued today with the Eastern Students Club, Nongmeibung and Nongmeibung Women Development Meira Paibi Association staging a sit in at Nongmeibung Keithel today.

It may be mentioned that the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System along with the students associations Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System had started its different forms of agitation demanding implementation of the ILP in the state since June 1 and have only stepped up its agitations since then.

Speaking to media persons, Nongmaithem Sobita, secretary, Nongmeibung Women Development Meira Paibi Association said the ILP should be implemented in the state at the earliest in order to safeguard the indigenous people of the state.She further called upon all groups of the society to understand the importance of the system and join in the movement.The state government must take a firm decision that ILP must be implemented in the state and should pressure the central government before the public comes out with a more stronger pressure.

A press release of the Naorem Bihari College Students’ Union, Khundrakpam has said that the endangered indigenous people of Manipur should expressed their fullest potential of might and wisdom on considering the future of Manipur.
