IMPHAL, June 6: The implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) System in the state is the only way to save and protect the indigenous people, stated the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) while highlighting the importance of the ILP system in a press statement.
It said, the system will not allow non-locals to enter the state as and when they wish and also prevent them from settling in the state.
It will protect the rights of the state students as the children of non-locals wouldn’t be allowed to appear in competitive exams for they wouldn’t be allowed to procure domiciles in the state, the statement said.
Non-locals do not have the benefit of permanent settlement or buying of land in a state where the ILPS is effective, it continued while stating that even if they marry a local woman, the land can be bought in her name but not in the name of their child, it added.
The statement also said, the ILPS do not permit a non-local to hold a permanent post of a government job and so it will prevent the non-locals from taking advantage in the state where there is unemployment issue.
The system will regulate the number of non-locals entering in the state holding the permit and will safeguard their life, the statement continued.
It also said the government’s statement to suppress the ILP awareness campaign by the student bodies is being strongly condemned.
