IMPHAL, June 9: A joint meeting attended by the Pradhans and Up-Pradhans of Khongman and Torban Kshetri Leikai Gram Panchayat and representatives of the following clubs namely Athletic Sports Association (ASA), Pebiya Pandit Leikai Youth Development Organisation (PPLYDO), Mongkhanglambi Modern Club (MMC), XI Star Sporting Union (XI Star), South East Youth Organisation (SEYO) was held today at the Athletic Sports’ Association (ASA) premises at Singjamei Kongba Road and urged the state government to take up the following measures in the Akampat, a developing area, for the betterment and upliftment of the inhabitants of the locality in particular and state in general, viz. demarcation of the Akampat Area; eviction of encroachers in the area; construction of a drainage between the boundaries of the state land and the private patta land, said a press release issued by the general secretary, South East Youth Organisation (SEYO).
The two Pradhans of the two Gram Panchayat clarified in the meeting that they were not a party to the demarcation process of the particular newly established private school in the area and further said that they only went to the spot as an invitee which should not mean their acceptance to the demarcation process, it said.
