IMPHAL, June 22: A team of Narcotics and Affairs of the Border (NAB) reportedly arrested a wing commander of the Kuki National Army, Chasad Camp, Ukhrul district along with another cadre with a large sum of money while coming towards Imphal at Yaingangpokpi area.
According to reliable police sources, the arrested persons have been identified as s/s wing commander of Kuki National Army (KNA), Chasad camp Letkhosei Haokip (37), son of Holkhozang Haokip of Molnoi village in Chandel and Paokhulun Haokip (25), son of Mangkhohao Haokip of Aimol village.
They were arrested yesterday afternoon by the NAB team along with one 9mm Pistol and a large sum of money near Yaingangpokpi police station while the two were moving in a Maruti Gypsy toward Imphal from Ukhrul.
The two arrested KNA cadres were later handed over to Lamlai police station.
According to unconfirmed sources, the seized amount is above nine lakhs.
Mention may be made that the KNA is a signatory of the Suspension of Order with both the state and central governments.
