KNF cadre beleived to be injured in gun fight brought to Imphal

    IMPHAL, June 20: A Kuki National Front cadre suspected to be injured in a gun fight with troops of the 15th Assam Rifles yesterday morning at Bongbal Khullen under Yairipok Police Station was today brought for treatment at the Kuki Christian Hospital, Imphal.
    According to a reliable source, the injured cadre has been identified as s/s corporal thangboi Kipgen (27), son of Satai of Senapati district. He was brought with a bullet injury on his right side elbow.
    It is also learnt that on getting information about the militant cadres’ treatment, a team of the Assam Rifles had also come to get some information.
    According to an electronic media report, Thangboi was injured in yesterday’s gunfight.
    It is also learnt that the gun fight ensued after an AR team attack around 10 cadres of the KNF who were resting.
    However, a high ranking police officer of the Imphal West district who had arrived at the hospital to get some information said that Thangboi was hurt when his gun went off as he was cleaning it at camp Ebenezer.
    He had also continued that there is no report of gun fight with the Yairipok police and further said that the injured cadre cannot be discharged from the hospital without informing the police.
    MLA Nemcha Kipgen and KNF general secretary Aron Kipgen had also visited the hospital.
    Meanwhile, in the evening after the police officer had left the hospital, the injured cadre was taken away from the hospital.
