LAMKA, June 16: A press release issued by the secy Information and Publicity of the Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) S George Guite, has today slammed the steps taken by the Government regarding the process for political dialogue with Kuki militants and the KSDC.

It says that time and again, assurance has been given by the government but nothing has translated into practical, it goes on and say that this indifferent attitude of the Government is detrimental to the hard-earned peace in Kuki areas after signing of Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militants under the banner of KNO and UPF in 2008.

Instead of speeding up the process for political dialogue demanded by the KSDC, the government and its agencies are trying to subdue the Kuki armed groups under SoO, the press release said.

The release also stated that the KSDC organized political meeting from March 19, 2013 with masses, village chiefs, student leaders, Human Rights leaders, Church leaders and women unions and set up block and district level committee at Kuki inhabited areas.

Apart from the existing District Committee, the KSDC has also set up five more block level committees and held political meetings at several places so far and will continue until the political and historical message are spread to the people at the grass root level on the legitimate demands for Kuki State by KSDC , it has also expanded its central executive committee.

Further the press release warned  that the KSDC  may intensify the temporarily suspended general strike in Kuki areas if the Govt employ delaying tactic to hold dialogue as per their demand  which will soon be followed by economic blockade in Kuki inhabited areas of present Manipur, and in this regards the press release concluded by stating  that if the Govt. is adamant to address this Kuki problem it will be the sole  responsibility of the government  for any eventuality.
