IMPHAL, June 10: The KSO Sadar Hills and the Senapati District Students Association have in a joint statement urged the concerned authority to reconsider its decision to drop the hill based contractors for implementation of WBNP.
“As per information, culled from a reliable source, it is learnt that an order is being issued to engage three valley based firms for transportation of food grains for implementation of Wheat Based Nutrition Programme of the Social Welfare Department, after completely ignoring the hill based firms,” the release said.
“Many hill based contractors were also in the fray for appointment in the tender process. However all hill based firms who had been transporting goods for the department during the past many years were unceremoniously dropped,” it said.
“The KSO Sadar Hills and the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) express strong resentment over this shady deal struck by the concerned authority with the three valley based firms in collusion with some officials of the department. For the past many years both valley based and hill based transporters were engaged by the Social Welfare Department in the transportation activities without any problem and hindrance,” it said.
