IMPHAL, June 24: The Manipur Drivers’ Forum demanded to provide compensation for the 39 trucks that were destroyed till the 2011 blockade said Bhupendra Ghosh, advisor, Manipur Drivers Forum during a press conference at Manipur Press Club today.
Continuing further, he said during the last year Assembly session in June, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh has stated that the process for the payment of compensation for 29 trucks and had submitted to the Planning Department, however there has been no payment of compensation till date.
He further appealed to the MLAs to take up the issue during the ongoing Assembly session and bring a solution for the provision of compensation to the 29 trucks for which, all process has been stated to be completed and to start the process for the remaining 10 more trucks at the earliest.
He further raised question for the delay in provision of compensation.
Elaborating on the problem faced by the truck drivers he said the government has to provide more securities for the security of the drivers because still they are facing problems in the NH.
