IMPHAL, June 13: An angry mob burnt down two vehicles which were transporting Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) at Dungrei Junction under Hundung police station along Imphal-Ukhrul Road today at about 10:40 am.
According to reliable sources, the incident happened when the two vehicles were heading towards the 41 Assam Rifle post in Ukhrul.
The first vehicle, a Tata DI bearing registration number NL-01A-3559 was found carrying 26 large packets containing IMFL when frisked by womenfolk and the second vehicle, a Tata 407 bearing registration number MN-01-2365 carrying Assam Rifle personnel who were escorting the Tata DI. Sources said that the Assam Rifle personnel who were escorting the said vehicle revealed that the liquors are being transported under the order of the CO, 41 Assam Rifles.
