IMPHAL, June 21: An outlawed underground organization has recently threatened to attack Opposition leader of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly Oinam MLA Dr I Ibohalbi, according to a reliable source.
The threat from the UG group reportedly had come regarding the distribution of the Public Distribution System in the MLA’s constituency Oinam a/c.
The MLA had refused to fulfill the UG group’s demand for a percentage cut from the AAY, BPL and APL items meant for distribution to the people, following which the UG group threatened him, said the source.
In what could be a manner of confirming the threat, the All India Trinamool Congress MLA said during the discussion on Demand No 15 on Consumer Affairs Food & Public Distribution during the General Budget Discussion today, “The inability to fully distribute the Public Distribution items to general public more than only 50 percent is due to the presence of a big mouse. At present I am receiving threats over the phone and I have already met with the Superintendent of Criminal Investigation Department”.
However, the MLA refrained from naming the UG group and the exact words used in threatening him.
