Parents appeal for financial aid for son`s treatment

IMPHAL, June 16: The parents of a 16 year old boy along with representatives of a students’ body have today demanded for financial help from the state police department alleging that their son who was riding a Honda Activa bearing regd no MN 01 3512 along with two of his other friends were hit by a police vehicle on June 2.

The parents have claimed that their son is in a serious condition and presently undergoing treatment at the ICU of the Shija Hospitals and Research Institute.

Speaking to media persons at the All Manipur Students’ Union office, spokesperson of the student body Manjit Sarangthem claimed that the accident occurred along the Heinoupokpi main road on June 2 around 3pm, when the underage boy was returning after appearing an entrance test for admission to class XI.

He identified the police vehicle to be a DI 407 truck of the Lamshang Police.

Another 16 year old boy who was pillion riding along with another friend when they met with the accident claimed that the three of them were coming out from his house when they were hit by the police vehicle.

He said, his friend had come to his house after appearing for his entrance test.

He continued that after the accident, the police personnel took them to the RIMS along with elders of the locality.

Meanwhile, the father of the injured 16 year old has said that the police have already extended a sum of Rs 50000 as help to the family but being a poor family, he is finding it hard to meet the medical expenses of his injured son.

His son is injured on his head, chest, legs and has broken his collar bone, hands and is in a serious condition, he said while appealing to the police for financial assistance.

Meanwhile, he has also claimed that his son’s condition deteriorated due to the failure of RIMS Specialists doctors to look after him.

The boy was not wearing helmets at the time of the accident and was carrying two other pillion riders, however on humanity grounds the state police department should extend some financial help, the father said.
