Parent-teacher meet held at Jiribam

JIRIBAM, June 28: A parent-teacher meet and prize distribution ceremony was organised by the Jiribam Government Higher Secondary School at the auditorium of the school today at 11 am with the objective of encouraging the students of Jiribam and making the school a good government higher secondary school.

S Maniton Singh, state awardee and ex-principal opened the function by lighting the candle.

Cash prizes were distributed to meritorious students and good teachers of the school.

H. Rajen Singh, Lecturer delivered the welcome address during the function.

Giving the key note address, Ch Dhiren Singh, VP in charge referred the students as the water of a river and the parents and teachers as the river banks.

Only teachers cannot be responsible for their education. Parents have great responsibility for it, he said while adding that if parents and teachers look after the students, good students will be produced in the area.

S Gulapi Singh, L Seitamjit Singh, A Soroja Devi and E Aruna parents of students also spoke on the occasion.

Speaking at the function, E Aruna Devi spoke about irregularities of teachers and made suggestions to develop the school.

Other parents also suggested reforming undisciplined students and taking up necessary actions by appealing to the authority.

They went further that teachers, students and parents should extend co-operation to produce good students instead of putting the blame on one onother.

Among the teachers RK Gambhirjit Singh and Ng Kamaljit Singh elaborated on the students’ lifestyles, discipline and CCE.

S Maniton, said that a good plan cannot be taken up hastily but it takes time and it will be good if it is taken up in a step by step process.

He continued that if Jiribam Higher Secondary school is looked after, it will produce good students in the future.

It will be better if teachers, students and parents take their own responsibilities in the attempt to uplift the students.

Speaking at the function as president, L. Ranjit Kumar Singh, Principal of the school said that defects should be straightened out through suggestions and discussions instead of mudslinging against one another. All out efforts made by the teachers to uplift students and to better the school will fail without the co-operation of the public, he asserted.

The school distributed prizes to students who passed the examinations conducted by the Council and the Board at the function and teachers were also awarded presentations as encouragement to dutiful teachers. Satmingthang Pradhan Meritorious award donated by the family of Satmingthang Pradhan, the then student of this school who passed away in an unfortunate incident in his name was conferred to the toppers of Jiribam government Hr. Secondary school in class XII examination. The award was given to Y. M. Kabir Ahmed for class XI (sc) while L. Kebesana was presented with the award for class XII (Arts). O. Urmila Devi, H. Premika and K Gitaranjan Singh also receives the awrds.

Towards the close of the function, a meeting attended by parents and teachers was held and the Parent Teacher Association of Jiribam Government Hr Sec School was formed with L Ratankumar Singh, Principal of Jiribam government Hr. Secondary School as president, RK Gambhirjit Singh as Secretary and MK Mishra as treasurer.
