IMPHAL, June 21: Police have today clarified that the three URF cadres including its s/s home secretary Moiyamba were arrested by a team of Lamphel police in connection with a FIR registered on the basis of a complaint lodge by the president of the All Manipur Petroleum Tankers’ Union with the DGP.
A press statement of the Superintendent of Police, Imphal West has said that mobile number 8414066926 which was used in extortion and intimidation to the president All Manipur Petroleum Tankers’ Union was also recovered and seized from their possession.
It said, “the so called URF cadres (later on identified as those with signed agreement with Govt. for peace talk) were arrested by a team of Lamphel P/S in connection with case FIR No 133(6)2013 u/s 307/364/384/506/511/34 IPC & 16/17/20 UA(p) A Act of Lamphel PS”.
It further said that the case was registered on the basis of written complaint lodged by the president of the All Manipur Petroleum Tankers’ Union with DGP, Manipur on May 4, 2013. “Accordingly, the Officer in charge of Lamphel Police Station had been directed to conduct inquiry and after inquiry, a formal regular case had been registered at Lamphel PS under the aforesaid FIR No and arrested the involved persons who later on were identified as cadres of URF, namely one Puyam Ruhini alias Moiyamba alias Biren Meitei (51) son of P Indu Meitei of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, one Huidrom Shantikumar alias Pamel Meitei (37) son of H Konungjao Meitei of Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai, one Yumnam Shantikumar alias Raja Meitei (36) son of Y Shyamjai Singh of Irom Meijrao Mamang Leikai, one Konthoujam Premjit Singh alias Nimai alias Konthouba Singh (32) son of K Nipamacha Singh of Thiyam Khunjao Maning Leikai.
“The incriminating mobile number 8414066926 which was used in extortion and intimidation to the president All Manipur Petroleum Tankers’ Union was also recovered and seized from their possession and one Tavera Car vehicle bearing registration number MN04 A5001 in black colour registered in the name of one Kh Lukhoi Singh son of (L) Kh Bidhu Singh of Nagamapal which was used by the cadres in their illegal activities was also seized in the case”, it said.
