Presidency college releases college magazine

KANGPOKPI, Jun.7: The first annual magazine of Presidency College, Motbung 2012-2013  christened “ORCHID” has been released in a simple function held at the college Confidential Hall by Dr.T.Gangte, Principal today afternoon at around 2:30 pm.

Orchid, the college annual magazine has been produced by Dr.T.Gangte, the college principal and the Students` Union, PMC general secretary Nemneithem Kipgen while it is edited by Lunminlal Kipgen, B.A. English(Hons) and Kampu Kipgen, Secretary Fnance, Students` Union PCM.

While speaking at the release function, Dr T Gangte, the college principal emphasized on the vital role of a college magazine terming it as a mirror of college life while adding that it reflects the literary, educational and other activities in the college.

The vice president of the students` union, Y Biren Singh said that the college magazine is a comprehensive magazine as it contains valuable articles from professors and from the ex and current students, conveying about their successful career and interesting experiences, adding that it gives students an opportunity to write and publish content.

The Students` Union Secretary Nemneithem Kipgen while narrating the hardships faced by the editotial board in bringing out the first ever annual magazine of the college said that, the magazine is an essential part of college life letting you know what`s happening on campus from fun recreational activities to serious issue and student election. This keep students in the know and upto date on current events that are important to their demographic.

Mentioned may be made that, the college have a total of 2918 students where there are only  a few toilets and urinals which is not  enough sufficient for the student community.

Recently, the IFCD minister Ngamthang Haokip assured the college to construct sufficient toilets and urinals separately for boys and girls during the college foundation day celebration but nothing has been done so far whereas the assurance and promise of Sekmai AC MLA, Kh.Divendra Singh to provide  computer sets to the college is yet to be materialized, said the Students` Union.
