IMPHAL, June 15: The JAC initiated against the alleged killing of Md Rafizuuddin of Turel Ahanbi Kalikhong Mathak has staged a sit in protest at Lilong Bazaar today demanding befitting punishment for the accused who is presently in police custody at the earliest.
Speaking to the media persons at the sideline of the demonstration, JAC convenor Md Liyaqat Ali said that Md Rafizuudin alias Nahayai (32), son of Md Maheijuudin, of Turel Ahanbi Kalikhong Mathak left his home along with one Mujibur Rahaman of the same locality to hire a vehicle to take his father Maheijuddin, a heart patient, to the hospital at around 11 pm on June 11.
Rafizuudin was found laying unconscious at Leishang Hiden opposite Konsam Oil Service at around 4.30 am and was rushed to RIMS hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injury, he further said.
He said according to Mujibur Rahaman, who is now in police custody, he came back home on the early morning of June 12. He along with the deceased went to steal a cow on the June 11 night where they were caught by the locals and was beaten black and blue. During the beating, Rafizuddin sustained major injury and later succumbed to his injury at RIMS hospital.
He further said that the JAC is against what Rahaman has said. He said it is a made up story by Rahaman to save themselves while saying that the JAC has suspicion of the involvement more persons.
The dead body of Rafizuudin is still lying at JNIMS morgue as an unclaimed body even after the post mortem has been conducted.
