IMPHAL, June 14: The state Education Minister has today announced before media persons that admission for class XI Science stream in Ramlal Paul Higher Secondary School will only be for girls.
The Minister told media persons at his office chamber today that the government has approved to accommodate only girls in the Class XI Science admissions in the school from this year.
He said a 100 bedded hostel for girls will also be provided in the school.
The intake capacity for the Class XI Science in the school will be the same as that of TG Higher Secondary School, he said.
The decision has been taken following the concern for all the girl students who cannot take admission in the government girls’ only schools like Tamphasana Higher Secondary School and Ibotonsana Girls Higher Secondary School.
Meanwhile, for the boy students of the school who had already enrolled themselves in the school, they will be allocated to other government high schools, he said.
He further continued that the state education department will try to provide similar facilities in the school as is available in TG and Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School.
The government is trying to provide the best facilities of science laboratories in all government schools and to solve the problem of the lack of teachers, he continued.
He further said that for the welfare of the students, the government will provide some incentive for the good students who had passed out in last examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary School.
He continued for the next session, there will be common admission form.
He further said in other districts of the state, there is a lot of enrollment in the government schools which clearly shows that the popularity of the government schools is increasing rapidly.
The total seat capacity of the government schools: Johnstone Hr Sec School, CC Hr Sec School, TG Hr Sec School, Ananda Singh Hr Sec School, Model Hr Sec School, Lamlong Hr Sec School, Ibotonsana Hr Sec School and Ramlal Paul Hr Sec Schools are 2000 students in Science stream, 1500 students in Arts stream and 605 students in Commerce stream. The total form received in these schools are collectively 3740 for Science stream; 1275 for Arts stream; 166 for Commerce stream.
There is no admission problem in the Arts and Commerce streams in the state, he ended.
