The statement continued that the environment has today deteriorated a lot. `The race for development amongst the different countries of the world is one main reason for the deteriorating condition of the environment,` it said.
However, the deteriorating condition of the Manipur environment is not because Manipur has entered the race of development, but it is because of economical ventures of the Indian government to earn profit, the statement claimed.

The conditions of the remaining five lakes including the Loktak Lake are also deteriorating, it said.
