IMPHAL, June 14: A separate door will be provided for the media persons of both print and electronic media houses for coverage of the ongoing full Budget Assembly to enter the press gallery. A reliable source has informed that the new arrangement for media persons will be implemented from June 17.
It is believed that the arrangement has been made due to the confusion during the signing of the entry register and body search as the media persons were made to enter from the same gate along with officials of the Assembly Secretariat and others.
In the wake of the issue of sandal wearing media persons being made to leave their sandals before entering the Assembly building, there were also reports of some media persons including a senior journalist reportedly a reviewer of the All India Radio being made to leave sandals outside by CID personnel in plain cloths in the morning session.
However sandal wearing media persons were allowed entry in the afternoon/evening session.
