Under-construction separate hostels for boys and girls to be completed by year end, says CM

IMPHAL, June 16: The separate hostels for boys and girls which are under construction at Khuman Lampak sports complex will be completed by December this year, said Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh in his speech during the closing function of the residential table tennis coaching camp 2013 at the Indoor Hall, National Sports Academy Khuman Lampak today.

The 21 days long coaching camp was conducted by Kim Song Han of DPR Korea at Indoor Hall, National Sports Academy, Khuman Lampak and had started on May 28 last and participated by nine players from Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh. There were 44 young paddlers from Manipur.

The table tennis coaching is held under the aegis of the Table Tennis Federation of India.   

Speaking at the function Okram Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister said the game of Table Tennis is suitable to the people of Manipur.

Speaking further, the Chief Minister said that the state will provide foreign coaches to select players of some select sports with an objective of bringing medals in the 2016 Olympics and other reputed international tournaments.

He further said the state is focusing on improvement in sports and tourist sectors so as to attract people from outside the state.

He added side by side the government is also trying to improve the power sector.

The state Chief Minister appealed to the people to cooperate with the state government in its endeavor to improve the said sectors.

Speaking at the function Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, Minister, Works and Transport, appealed to the people of the state to joint hand and work together for the betterment of sports sector and power sector for better society.

The state Chief Minister also inspected the ongoing construction work at the two 150 bedded each hostels after the inaugural function.
