`UNLF, KCP cadres surrender`

IMPHAL, June 17: A PIB press statement has said that security forces has arrested an overground worker of the URF on June 16 while, one each cadre of the KCP and the UNLF had surrendered before troops of the Red Shield Division the same day.

The statement said on June 16, based on specific intelligence about the presence of an Over Ground Worker, Oinam Tomba Singh, son of (L) Oinam Nitia Singh, resident of Thanga Chinkha, Police Station Moirang, District Bishnupur of URF, a joint search operation with Keibul Police Commando was launched by the troops of Red Shield Division in general area of Keibul on June 16, which resulted in his apprehension.  

It claimed that the Over Ground Worker was involved in extortion.  

The individual has been handed over to Moirang Police Station on 16 Jun 2013, it said.

The statement continued that on June 16 at 5:15pm, an active cadre of KCP, s/s Maj Angom Ibochouba alias Punshiba alias Shelungba, son of Ibomcha Singh, resident of Moirang, Police Station Moirang, District Bishnupur surrendered to the troops of Red Shield Division at Moirang  Khunou with a .32 mm Pistol and 02 Magazines.

It has further continued that the same day at 6:30pm, an active cadre of UNLF, s/s sgt Chingngakham Ainaoba alias Puyalakpa, son of CH Panjaroton surrendered to the troops of Red Shield Division at Thanga with a 9mm Pistol and 01 magazine.

He had joined the outfit in Aug 2005 at UNLF Camp Leiyang, Myanmar where he was trained for two and a half months from August to October 2005 along with 57 recruits including six female cadres, it said.
