IMPHAL, June 28: Any news report involving MLAs/Ministers should be published in the newspapers only when there is proof.

This was observed by Wangjing Tentha  MLA P Brojen Singh of Wangjing Tentha Constituency during zero hour of the Manipur Legislative Assembly today.

He further said it is found that the inside page of today’s newspaper in the morning carried a news item that interference of Ministers has led to MBBS/BDS crisis. He drew the attention of the House that the news item has defamed MLAs and Ministers. It may be true or could be wrong but if the news item involving MLAs/Ministers is to be published, it should be published when proof is available, he pointed out.

Meanwhile, taking advantage of the zero hour, MLA L Ibomcha Singh of Keishamthong constituency said that the concluding function of the Manipur Sangai Festival was held on November 30, 2012 while adding that the Governor of the state and Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh who is also the leader of the House had attended the function. It was declared that Mapal Kangjeibung (pologround), Imphal will be converted to the status of a world heritage site. He drew the attention of the House by asking what actions have been taken up with regard to the declaration.
