IMPHAL, June 14: In a very gruesome incident, a 45 year old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her own husband today at around 6 pm at Hatta Golapati under Porompat police station in Imphal East district.
The woman identified as Basaran alias Ahmubi, 45, was rushed to a nearby public hospital however she succumbed to her injury at around 7 pm at the hospital.
The accused woman’s husband has been identified as Md Abdul Halim of Kwakta presently staying at a rented room at Hatta Golapati Maning Leikai near Tanky Makhong. Hearing the news, angry locals tried to take thing into their hands and prevent the police from taking away the accused. Police fired several rounds in the air including tear gas shells to disperse the angry mob. The accused is now in police custody and the dead body has been deposited at JNIMS for post mortem.
According to Azija, 20, daughter in law of the deceased woman speaking to media at the public hospital at Hatta said that the incident happened today at around 6 pm.
Her mother in law identified as Basaran alias Ahmubi, 45, succumbed to her injury after she was stabbed at just below her throat by her father in law following a heat argument between the two couple. She said that the couple often fights. She also said that her mother in law came back to live together again only a few months back after living separately for two years.
