Announced KSDC blockade affecting oil tankers` movement

IMPHAL, July 7: In the wake of the total bandh and economic blockade starting from 5 AM of July 8 called by the Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) against the government’s failure to begin political dialogue with Kuki militants under Suspension of Operation (SoO), the oil tankers in the state are facing a hard time to decide what to do.  

According to information received by IFP, considering the upcoming bandh and blockade there were some changes in the vehicular movement routines of the oil tankers.

The oil tankers, loaded with petrol and diesel, which normally start moving from Khatkhati in Assam towards Imphal in the night time has today started moving from 5 pm. 38 oil tankers have now reached Chumukidima in Nagaland and will be reaching Imphal before 5 AM tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the empty oil tankers that normally leave Imphal for Khatkhati between 10 pm to 11 pm, considering the bandh has left Imphal at around 5 pm today. 25 empty tankers have left Imphal today.

There is enough oil stock in Imphal after including the oil tankers which will be arriving in Imphal tomorrow before the KSDC bandh begins. However, it is not sure as of now whether the oil tankers will be delivering their normal services or not during the course of the KSDC bandh and economic blockade.
