IMPHAL, July 13: The S/s home secretary of underground outfit, Kuki Liberation Army (Khongsai) group; a constituent group of the SoO signatory Kuki National Organization was today shot dead by unknown persons around 3:30 pm near Champai Village under Saikhul police station while he was travelling in a car along with five others including his wife and their daughter.
The assault left the militant home secretary identified as Saikhohao alias Marvin, of Saikhul dead and four other occupants injured while his wife escaped unhurt.
He was going back to his Saikhul residence from Imphal in a Verna bearing regd no MN 02 A 7518 driven by a driver. The driver identified as Alikhum Khongsai of Saikhul who was also injured ran away from the assault spot leaving the dead militant leader and his family behind.
Saikhohao who was sitting in the passenger side at the front was holding his two and a half year old daughter Jaokin. The child was also hit by a bullet in her stomach and was undergoing an operation at the Shija Hospital till the filling this news and is said to be in a critical condition.
Saikhohao’s wife Sonei was seated in the back seat with a relative identified as Thaling Khongsai (47), wife of Shenglam of Siangamphai, CCpur and her five year old grandson Haominglun (5) son of Ngamkhogin.
While Sonei escaped unhurt, Thaling was hit on her left side shoulder while five year old Haominglun was also injured on the shoulder. Both have been admitted at the Kuki Chirstian Hospital.
Meanwhile, the KNO has condoled the assault in a press statement and said “Marvin, secy-home of Kuki Liberation Army, a constituent of the Kuki National Organisation, an umbrella organisation comprising 17 armed groups was assassinated on July 12 while travelling with his family”.
“The KNO offer heartfelt condolences to the family members of Seikhohao Khongsai alias Marvin. One of his daughters is also in a critical condition. KNO strongly condemns such cowardly action. If the assassins have an iota of human integrity they must own up to their action”, it said.
“All seventeen armed groups of KNO condole Pu Marvin’s untimely demise. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends he has left behind. KNO shall deeply miss Marvin”, it said.
