IMPHAL, July 25: Suspected militants exploded a bomb at the residence of Deputy Director of Soil and Chemist in the state Agriculture department, Phirojam Rajendro at Soibam Leikai (JNIMS crossing) under Porompat police station in Imphal East this morning at around 7:30; however no one was injured in the blast.
The bomb which was lobbed by suspected militants fell at the courtyard of his house.
A Maruti Zen car bearing registration number MN-1A-7815 and a two wheeler Dio bearing registration number MN01-R-1748 and the window glasses of his house were partially damaged in the explosion.
The blast created a hole of one foot wide and 4 inches deep on the ground where it fell.
Meanwhile, womenfolk of the area staged a sit-in-protest against the bomb blast at Porompat, JNIMS Road organised by Ayangpali Progressive Women Organisation.
Speaking to media at the sidelines of the protest, a protestor said that they strongly condemned the attack at the residence of Ph Rajendro and appealed for clarification to whoever is responsible behind the bomb attack at the earliest.
She further appealed not to carry out such type of bomb attack in the crowded residential area in the future.
