LAMKA, July 20: The Churachandpur District Sports Association (CDSA) today organised a football exhibition match at Hiangtam Lamka Public Ground as part of the opening ceremony of (L) T Lienboi Simte Super Division league 2013 which will start on the coming Monday.
The exhibition match was between an all film star team of Manipur and CCpur Joint Philanthropic Organization (JCP) team.
The match started around 3 in the evening after a brief introduction.
About half way to the first half, film star Kaiku and singer-actor Sadananda took possession of the ball which Kaiku shot at the goal of the JPO and made the score read 1-0 which stood good till the end of the first half.
As many as 40 people, including 28 players mostly from the Manipur film industry and two officials had come all the way from Imphal for the exhibition match.
A football crazy crowd of CCpur attended today’s exhibition match and packed the play ground to capacity.
SDO, CCpur and the chief guest of the program Puii declared the Super Division League 2013 open before the exhibition match.
Several leaders of the JPO of CCpur also spoke on the occasion and the chief guest Puii speaking on the occasion lamented the pathetic condition of the sports infrastructure in the state which is where the govt has failed, she said.
“Provided proper fund is available, a lot of talent can shine”, she said before appreciating the efforts of the CDSA and the two team while at the same time expressing her hope that this will not be the last of its kind as it has the potential to promote unity and peace among all the people of the state.
