KSDC blockade affects Moreh line

LAMKA, July 10: A group of media persons including this IFP correspondent today went on tour to several areas which have been affected by the KSDC economic blockade.

The team had come across several areas other than Ccpur and Kangpokpi totally affected by the bandh.

President of the Kuki Women Union, Touthan said that the blockade will be intensified tomorrow as the government has ignored the demands for a separate state within the Indian Union.

She said that they are not against any community but added that their demand is just and will continue to press for it until it is fulfilled.

At a Kuki village called Tengnoupal housing around 230 houses, general secy KSDC Langsun Mate said that several commodities including wooden planks worth around Rs 1 lakh loaded in a truck and another truck carrying commodities worth Rs 70000 were caught along the highway during the economic blockade.

Mate and his team of volunteers also exhibited several goods including rice, vegetables, charcoal, potatoes etc which were seized during the blockade which could altogether be worth around Rs 3 lakhs.

He also said that the volunteers at Tengoupal village had caught only goods that did not exceed one bag  which he said will be returned to the owners by the end of the blockade tomorrow at 5pm.

Mate also said that there will be many more such incidents as the volunteers at Moreh college had also warned the traders to observe the economic blockade.

In Tengnoupal area, volunteers `checked` and accosted as many as 360 vehicles today.
