DIMAPUR, July 23 (NNN): One NSCN-IM cadre and one FGN cadre have been arrested by the Assam Rifles in the last two days in Nagaland.
Personnel of the 11 Assam Rifles apprehended one NSCN-IM cadre collecting money in form of tax who is identified as one Akope Kope s/o Om Bahadur Gurung (32), a resident of Seed Farm Colony, Pfutsero, Phek district, Nagaland on MOnday. He was caught indulging in extortion from civil vehicles at Pfutsero, the Assam Rifles source said.
According to the source, on questioning he revealed that he belongs to the NSCN(IM). Three tax receipts, cash Rs 10,300 and one mobile phone with an Airtel SIM were recovered from his possession. An FIR was lodged at Pfutsero Police Station and the individual alongwith recovered items were handed over to the police, the Assam Rifles source stated.
In a separate incident, personnel of the 11 Assam Rifles, based on a specific input apprehended one FGN cadre, `captain` Meliphi s/o (L) Tasengulo from village Enhelumi, Phek district (Nagaland) today from a house at Enhelumi village of Phek district.
One 9mm U S made pistol with magazine with two live rounds, twenty metallic balls, one safety sear of pistol, two detonator, nine tax collection receipt, one blank identity card, one strength document of 13th Battalion FGN (2012), one mobile Sansui (duel SIM) with two SIM (Airtel and BSNL), uniform and epaulette of FGN cadres were recovered from him. The individual and recovered items were later handed over to Chizami police station and an FIR was lodged today.
