Thoudam Thabal Memorial Meritorious Awards presented

JIRIBAM, July 18: Imphal East Zilla Parishad Upa Adhyaksha Thoudam Ibomcha of Kadamtala Jiribam on Thursday presented the Thoudam Thabal Memorial Meritorious Awards to meritorious students from Jiribam sub-division who scored first division in Class 10 exam conducted by BSEM and CBSE and several journalists based in Jiri in a simple function held at the Auditorium Hall of Jiribam Higher Secondary School.

The award ceremony was attended by Member of 19 Borobekra Zilla Parishad Archana Das; Jiribam Higher Secondary School Principal L. Ranjit Kumar Singh; Additional S.P., Jiribam O. Menjor Singh; Z.E.O. Office Jiribam, D.I. Ch. Sunamani Singh and O. Brajamani Singh and All Jiribam Working Journalist Union’s president M. Joymangol as guests of honour.

During the ceremony, a total of 48 students (BOSEM-19 and CBSE-29) and A.I.R Imphal’s Reporter Ng. Biswajit Singh, I.S.T.V.’s Reporter M. Romeo Singh, Poknapham’s Reporter Lukhoi Atom, Sangai Express’s Reporter Abdul Salam and Manipur Chronicle’s Reporter Yumnam Sanjit Singh were presented awards for their outstanding performances.

Speaking on the occasion, Addl S.P. O. Menjor Singh stated that students should strive hard to get more bigger and prestigious awards in future saying that the day is an important day for students.

He observed that in life of a student, the best friend should be books and time is the most expensive thing for them.

‘’Students should not waste time in drug abuse and indulge in immoral activities and bad company. One must maintain discipline and perseverance in his studies only then he would lead a better and successful life in future,’’ he continued.    

In his speech, principal of Jiribam Higher Secondary School L. Ranjit Kumar Singh said that such award ceremony is much needed for students as it would encourage them to yield better result in time to come adding that Jiribam sub-division despite of its small geographical size has been producing outstanding students.

Stating that education in today’s world has been changed drastically with the rapid growth of internet, mobile phones etc, he further appealed to the journalists to work sincerely and fearlessly and provide kind of news which would enlighten public.
