IMPHAL, July 17: The United National Liberation Front, Manipur has in a press statement said that yesterday’s incident at Jiribam wherein it was reported that an Assam Rifles Major had physically assaulted an Addl SP of the Manipur police clearly indicates the views of the Security Forces’ of Manipur.
The statement further identified the arrested man as Seikhohao Guite alias James Kuki s/s general secy of the UTLA (SK Thadou) faction and alleged that the AR had issued an Id-card with a phony name of Seinio Guite.
The statement further continued that the Security Forces have no regards for Manipur or its civil administration including Ministers, MLAs and Manipur police. There are several instances when a mere official of the SFs had frisked the Ministers, MLAs and assault of personnel of state forces even on producing their Id cards, the statement said
