IMPHAL, July 30: The tenure of the Chief Secretary DS Poonia who was allocated with works as the CS,(cabinet and confidential),DP and Principal Resident Commissioner, Manipur Bhawan, New Delhi is set to retire today. Earlier, he was to retire on April 30 but the State government had extended his tenure for another 3 months, ending today.
According to the seniority list, the next in line is PC Lawmkunga, at present posted and allocated works of Additional Chief Secretary (Forest and Environment).
However, according to reliable sources, Lawmkunga may be given the promotion of Chief Secretary rank, but possibly posted to New Delhi as principal resident commissioner of Manipur Bhawan.
Further, if Lawmkunga is to be Principal Resident Commissioner, then the next in the seniority list is RR Rashmi, who is presently Additional Chief Secretary (Finance and Planning).
DS Poonia, the outgoing CS will be given a farewell on Wednesday at 5 pm at the Old Secretariat conference hall, according to an unofficial letter by Norbert Disinang , commissioner (GAD).
