750 loaded trucks stranded along Imphal-Jiri stretch

     IMPHAL, August 18: Out the total of 902 loaded trucks which had left Jiribam for Imphal on August 16, 750 trucks are stranded at different locations along the Imphal-Jiri stretch of the National Highway 37. The said trucks are stranded at Nung Dolan, Kambiron and Barak Bridge because of the deplorable road condition created by the heavy rainfall for the last some days.

    In addition to this, landslides have reportedly occurred at some locations.

    The stranded trucks are now blocking the Jiribam bound vehicles including empty trucks, private and passenger vehicles coming from Imphal.

    The loaded trucks which had left Jiribam on August 16 includes 140 trucks carrying rice, 140 trucks carrying wheat, 307 cement trucks, 36 urea trucks, 23 Medicine trucks, one oxygen truck, one petrol truck, four diesel trucks, two LPG bullets and other 248 trucks.

    The troops of 7 Bn Manipur Riffles led by its Assistant Commandant, Th Rajendra Singh are escorting the said loaded trucks.
