IMPHAL, August 12 (NNN): The All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has threatened to agitate from next month onwards if the state government does not implement its earlier assurance with regard to the filling up of vacant posts for Sceduled Tribe (ST) at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) by August 31.
According to ATSUM, on several past occasions it had submitted memoranda to the state government and on June 12, the chief minister himself had assured the students` body that it would take action on the former`s demand.
ATSUM said it had also apprised the Director of JNIMS and all the concerned tribal ministers and MLAs in this connection earlier.
Numerous posts of ST category have been laying vacant, according to ATSUM. “The authority concerned had filled up few posts in each category of staff but majority of the posts meant for ST have not been filled up,” pointed out ATSUM and asserted, “If the concerned authority is not competent enough to recruit staff we the student body will recruit staff by ourselves.”
