CCpur DC sets two day deadline for shops encroaching on footpath

LAMKA, August 20: Chrachandpur Deputy Comissioner Jacintha Lazarus today inspected the work on the roadside drain along the main Tiddim Road in Lamka area.

The DC was accompanied by the district Superintendent of Police, SDO, CEO of ADCC, OC of Ccpur, Executive Member of ADCC Mangchinkhup and Kamsuanlun and chief of Hiangtam Lamka.

Speaking to media persons after the tour, the DC warned all shopkeepers found encroaching upon the footpath to clear the footpath or to face action.

During the inspection, the team had come across several shops that have encroached upon the footpaths, following which the DC led team had instructed the shopkeepers to clear the path.

She also expressed that one must understand and cooperate with the government action for the common good of the area.

She further urged all to maintain cleanliness in the area.

Addressing the media further, the DC express her appreciation for the “commendable work” taken up for the construction of the roadside drain and had further said that atleast five MDC of CCPur are directly involved in the construction work is commendable.

She further praised the SP for the improvement of the traffic in the town and said that two traffic points have been set up and that the people should co-operate with the authorities.

Coming to her Independence Day speech, when she had said that water provision is a priority for the district administration, she encouraged all to share their views on ways to improve the water provision in the district.

She further expressed that there are plans to provide water tank for each locality and as such the local leaders should make known their respective localities’ water requirement to the soon to be set up “Water Board”.

“NGOs will be admitted to have a stake in the development of water supply provided that they want to join”, the DC said.
