Chandel schools take out silent rally against school burning

CHANDEL, August 19: A mass silent rally, protesting against the burning down of the administration building of the Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School on midnight of August 15 by unknown persons was held at the district head quarters, Chandel today.

The mass rally was organized by the teaching and non-teaching staffs and students of Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School (MUGHSS), Japhou in coordination with the private schools located in the district head quarters, wherein thousands of school going students, teachers, tribe leaders, and leaders of civil societies walk down the road as a mark of the protest.

The rally proceeded from the premises of MUGHSS, via Indoor stadium from where the rally proceeded to the DC Office complex for submitting a memorandum.

During the course of the rally all shops remained closed with all vehicular movement paused during the course of the rally.

“We want education not flame”, “Burning of school is burning of your own future”, “Book the culprit”, “School is temple do not destroy it”, “ We want a healthy education atmosphere”, “ Save education, Save generation”, written placards were raised by students during the rally.

School Management Development Committee (SMDC), teachers, students of MUGHSS and the private schools of Chandel submitted a joint memorandum of protest against the unfortunate fire incidence that had reduced the administration building to cinders and ashes to the Deputy Commissioner Chandel at the end of the rally.

The memorandum submitted termed the act of burning down the school as barbaric and strongly condemned it.

It has also raised the demand to book the culprit and be punished according to the decree of the crime committed and feasible security arrangements in the school premises to avoid such incidents in the future.

The memorandum also implored the kind supervision and assistance for resuming normal classes smoothly and at the same time made a fervent appeal to all concern to spare the educational institutes as they are the active agents of nation building and man-making.

Today’s school mass silent rally was actively participated by teachers, staffs and students of MUGHSS, Anallon Christian Institute, St. Peter’s school, Oriental Academy, Emmanuel School, Koinonia School, Life way Academy and St. Joseph’s School Chandel.
