CPI`s AB Bardhan tears into Congress and BJP

IMPHAL, August 23: The senior most Communist leader in India AB Bardhan attended the 66th Foundation day of the Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India today held at the Irawat Memorial Hall, Challou, Lamlai as the chief guest.

The foundation day function was organized by Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India.

Members Moirangthem Ibohal (MI), P Parijat and ex-minister and state secy Dr M Nara attended as presidium members.

Speaking at the function, A B Bardhan said that the party (CPI) has come a long way following its foundation in the state on 1948 by Jananeta Hijam Irabot and also praised the party veterans for carrying the flag for long.

He said the present generation has to carry forward the tradition and pass it forward to the next generation.

Criticising the present government both at the centre and the state, he said that the ruling governments sitting in power has been harping on about growth and development and continuing to promise many more things. “However, the fact is that the country is facing a great economic crisis with the devaluing of the rupee, skyrocketing of prices of essential commodities and food items and gold,” AB Bardhan said.

He further added that cases of violence has gone up and is being witnessed even inside the Parliament.  

The country is today facing corruption from the lower level to the higher level in every sphere of life and lakhs of crores of rupees are looted in the country today either by the corporate houses or by the government authorities, he said.

He added that CPI is fighting on all such issues in and outside the Parliament and are still continuing the struggle and fighting with the interest of the state as well as the country altogether.

He opined that the party support the repeal of AFSPA and Irom Sharmila Chanu’s struggle.

AB Bardhan while expressing skepticism of the government’s dealing in the international border fencing issue in the state said that he can sense a hidden agenda behind the silence of the government and its failure to make a statement against the Myanmar government on the border issue.

He said the CPI wants change in all such wrong deeds and further continued that the ideas of the BJP and the Congress are similar in several aspects such as in foreign policy and external affairs and both cannot be trusted.

He concluded by saying that true representatives of the people should be sent to the Parliament and enable bringing the long awaited change and hope to bring the glory and honor in the name of Jananeta Hijam Irabot.
