KANGPOKPI, August 2: Haijang Village Authority and Youth Club today praised Lina Lamneilhing Chongloi who after winning the pageant title of “Miss Bharat 2013” has bagged the coveted title of “4th Miss India North East 2013” at ITA Machkhuwa Hall, Guwahati on July 28, 2013.
21 year old Lina Lamneilhing Chongloi had on June 24, 2013 won Miss Bharat 2013 title at Hotel Ronak Plaza, Bhopal.
A month after, on the night of July 28, 2013 at ITA Machkhuwa Hall, Guwahati she again did her state and village proud by winning the tiara of “4th Miss India North East”.
In their separate gratitude notes, The Haijang Village Authority and Youth Club said with the humility and intellect showed by Lina – as fondly addressed by her local residents- during the pageant, she is still the winner for the people of her village and her home State Manipur.
Lina Lamneilhing Chongloi is the daughter of Lhunkhopao Chongloi and Phallhing Chongloi of Haijang Village.
Earlier, she had won “Miss talented” at the pageant named “Queen of Mystic East” held at BOAT, Imphal on 20th January 2011.
Lina L Chongloi had competed with 26 other contestanta from the North East states excluding Sikkim and Tripura at the 4th Miss India North East 2013 at ITA Machkhuwa Hall, Guwahati. Ipsheeta from Jorhat, Guwahati was crowned the 1st runners-up while Kiran Laishram born and brought up in Guwahati was crowned the second runners-up.
While speaking to this correspondent through social networking site Facebook here today, Lina L Chongloi said, “Today’s pageant contestants are more educated and competitive than the past. Earlier, there were high school students contestants but we have a bunch of better contestants nowadays.”
“There is no guaranteed formula for winning. Contestants/candidates have to work it out. It is not something that would come automatically. One has to earn her credibility”, noted Lina Chongloi.
After she was crowned the coveted “4th Miss India North East” title, Miss Lina L. Chongloi while expressing her enthusiasm to participate at “Miss Glory of Universe” held every year at Paris, London said that, “I don’t want to remain contented with this title. I wish to be crowned “Miss Glory of Universe” and once again make my people and my nation proud by begging the coveted title, she said.
