IMPHAL, August 14: The fate of the MBBS/BDS entrance test candidates of the state for the academic session 2013 still remains uncertain.

The hearing for the case which started on August 8 with a Division Bench of Chief Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre and Justice N Kotiswar of High Court of Manipur hearing the case has now been adjourned till August 16.

The hearing for the case  was held in the evening session of the High court today.

Even though the 10 candidates who are the petitioners in the case submitted their arguments on time to the court, the concerned officials of the state government who are the respondents prayed to the court for the submission of their argument on August 16 which was accepted.

It may be mentioned here that the Medical directorate had issued a notification on April 19, 2013 that the entrance test for the admission into MBBS/BDS courses for the academic session 2013 will be held on June 9th, 2013.

However, it was called off a day ahead of the scheduled date following a state cabinet decision according to which, the candidates for the MBBS/BDS courses will be selected from the merit list of NEET conducted by CBSE.

10 candidates who had received admit card for the said entrance test had challenged the cabinet decision at the High Court of Manipur. The proceedings for the case is still going on at the court.

However, the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has already started their session for the course a few days ago.
