LAMKA, August 4: The Hmarveng Welfare Defence Committee (HWDC), women`s wing, today told this IFP correspondent that they still stand firmly on their resolve to clean their locality of intoxicant and gambling.
The secretary of the women`s wing, Khawli said that they have got assurance from the SP of Churachandpur, Mangkhogin Hoakip, of full co-operation in their drive.
She said that within the past few days, they have apprehended at least 100 gm of brown sugar which is not commonly found in this part of the state, apart from apprehending 6-litre of local made alcohol.
The secretary further stated that even though in the past there was no 24 hour vigil, the committee will initiate a 24 hour vigil from today in Hmarveng locality of Churachandpur District.
