IJU approves AMWJU affiliation

IMPHAL, Aug 6: All Manipur Working Journalist Union representative, Ratan Luwangcha had addressed the meeting of the National Executive Council of the Indian Journalists’ Union on the issues that the media persons of the state have to face.

The meeting which was inaugurated by the Union Minister of States for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution KV Thomas concluded on August 6, 2013.

The state scribes representative had also read out a message of the president of AMWJU and also asserted for the implementation of the Majithia Wage Board.

The president of the India Journalists Union announced in the gathering that the affiliation of All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union to the India Journalists’ Union was accepted.

The member of the International Federation of Journalists Sabina Indrajit said during the meeting that the international media community considered that there was conflict problems only in the state of Kashmir, and now after having heard the report of the representative of AMWJU, the attention of the media community both Indian and international have been attracted to Manipur.

The president of the India Journalists’ Union assured the AMWJU team that the implementation of wage board and welfare for the journalists of Manipur will be considered as a national agenda. It was also said by the member of the Press Council of India, Amjit that he will surely visit Manipur in this month.
