JIRIBAM, August 24: Certain schools in Jiribam sub division have been found to be misusing the Mid-Day meal scheme, Education (s) Addl Director (Valley) Ranjan Yumnam told a group of media persons at Jiribam today.
Addressing the media persons, Education (s) Addl Director (Valley) who is in the sub-division following instructions of the department’s Director said that he along with his team had reached Jiribam on August 22 and had been conducting inspection of schools in the sub-division.
Elaborating on his tour, he said that soon after reaching the sub-division, he had visited the Jiribam Govt Higher Secondary School.
According to a report submitted by the Principal, the school is facing inadequate number of teachers and lack of infrastructure, Ranjan Yumnam said before adding that he will talk to the Director and other authorities to fulfil the necessities of the school at the earliest.
Meanwhile, he had also expressed before the schools heads during a meeting that he had convened the next day at the ZEO, Jiribam’s office, that being a teacher one has to be regular in their attendance and if in case one has to take leave, then a formal application should be submitted to the concerned person.
He further expressed that he had seen certain schools misusing the mid-day meal scheme citing that at Lalpani LP School, it was found that the money received after selling off the rice provided under the mid-day meal scheme had been given to the teachers.
He further expressed that he will submit a report on the issue to the Director.
The Additional Director expressed satisfaction over the teacher’s quarter at Borobekara Government Higher Secondary School and found that around five teachers were found staying at the quarter.
This morning, he also met with representatives of the student unions of Jiribam.
He said the August 30 deadline set by the student bodies regarding the utilization of teachers in other places from Jiribam has been extended upto September 31.
He continued that the ZEO is not authorised to exchange a teacher through utilization and said that the DI and AI under the ZEO will soon start inspection of schools soon.
